Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 1450, based in Rockville, Maryland! We are glad you are here.

We are inviting boys and girls K-5 to join our Pack! We have an exciting calendar planned for the 2022-2023 Scout Year.

About our Pack

Pack 1450 has been serving the youth of Rockville since 1969. We are a family Pack, which means we are open to boys and girls. It also means that all parents and siblings are welcome at all events. Parents don't just drop the children off and pick up when it's all through; they participate. All parents are expected to pitch in. While Scouting does require family commitment, our past and current families have found it both rewarding and fun over the years. Our Scouts attend several area schools including College Gardens Elementary School, Bayard Rustin Elementary School and several local privates schools and homeschooling.

Activities

Our Pack is large and vibrant and continues to grow. We go camping as a Pack at least twice each year, in the fall and spring. We go on hikes, play outdoor games, cookout, tell stories and sing songs around the campfire, and sleep under the stars!

Each year we also hold good-natured races: the Raingutter Regatta (boats made from recycled materials, and the Pinewood Derby (model cars run on tracks).

Service

We believe in being good citizens. That means going above and beyond to provide service to the community. Each year, Pack 1450 takes part in Scouting For Food, a region-wide food collection initiative, that last year resulted in over 50,000 pounds of food for area food pantries. We participate in the Rockville Adopt-a-Stream Program. Last year we also collected donations for a local women's shelter, made Halloween bags for sick children, thank you notes for first responders, and sandwiches for the Montgomery County Homeless Coalition.

We are always on the lookout for new ways to be of service. Please get in touch with the Pack Committee Chair or Cub Master (listed here on the contacts page) if you have ideas.

Organization

When children join Cub Scouts, they are divided up into Dens according to grade. Each Den has a Den Leader, typically the parent of one of the children. Each Den usually meets once or twice per month, where the cub scouts work on achievements toward fulfilling the requirements of their rank.

Together, the Dens form a Pack. The Pack meets once per month, where boys and girls are recognized for their accomplishments. There is usually a fun and educational program at Pack meetings.

A number of Packs make up a District, and in turn a number of regional Districts combine to form a Council. Pack 1450 is in the Potomac District of the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
